Vanessa Jude Cafiero

Vanessa_Headshot2

Role at Emerge:

Co-Owner + Director, Yoga Teacher & Lead Teacher Trainer, AGY Instructor, Massage Therapist, Health + Life Coach… Basically I do EVERYTHING!

Yoga ROCKS Because…

it continuously inspires me to live a life I love. Each time I roll out my mat, I’m reminded: that it’s fun to take risks, how to fall gracefully (and simply laugh if I don’t), that not taking myself too seriously is a spiritual practice, and reverence doesn’t mean rigid, to appreciate moments of stillness + find grounding during challenge, and throughout all of this, simply have gratitude & love more… if for no other reason, because it just feels good!

If my life had a theme song, it would be…

“Everything” by Alanis Morissette

When I’m not in spandex at Emerge…

I suppose I’m in sweat pants at Emerge? True story. AND…on those random occasions I take a day (or month) off, you may find me traveling the world in search of higher meaning (fun, obviously) or simply playing “vacation” in the backyard.

Role at Emerge:

Co-Owner + Director, Massage & Myofascial Release Therapist, Yoga Teacher, AGY Instructor, Health Coach

Yoga ROCKS Because…

it makes me feel beautiful, inside and out. It grounds me when I’m feeling scattered and unsure, and energizes me after a long, stressful day. Being on my mat or in a hammock is the time I consciously dedicate to making myself a priority. And in turn, focusing my awareness on my body and mind allows me to bring myself more fully and joyously to the world off my mat.

If my life had a theme song, it would be…

“Either or Both” by Phoebe Snow

When I’m not in spandex at Emerge…

I’m in jeans and a t-shirt at Emerge. Or I’m kicking back, listening to music with a glass of wine in my hand. I like wine.

Meet Brittany:

Brittany_Other1Brittany was introduced to yoga during her freshman year college exercise class at Quinnipiac University in 2007. However, it was not until diving into a steady Ashtanga Vinyasa practice that she truly began to fall in love with and see the benefits yoga was producing for her body and also her mind. A tap and jazz dancer of 18 years and former dance instructor at Ella Marie School of Dance, Brittany instantly took to the fluidity of the postures and challenges on the mat. In 2013, she decided to seize the opportunity and enroll in the 200-hr teacher training program at Emerge Yoga and Wellness in Bellmore, NY. Through a close mentorship with Vanessa Cafiero, Brittany sharpened her skills, allowing her to bring her own personal style and creativity to her sequencing. Inspired by Ashtanga and Forrest teachings, Brittany teaches an uplifting vinyasa flow with a big emphasis on connecting to the breath, your inner power. Her knowledge of contemporary movement combined with her passion for uplifting spirited music interweave to create a unique and high- spirited experience that will elevate your practice.

Meet Stefani:

Stefani_OtherStefani began her yoga practice in 2013 as a way to stretch, relax and ease physical pain. She immediately fell in love with AntiGravity and the effects it had her physically, mentally and emotionally.

In Spring of 2014 Stefani went on a surf and yoga retreat in Costa Rica and quickly realized that yoga wasn’t just a hobby, but so much more. It was there in the jungle, after a Yin yoga class that she decided to register for AntiGravity training and emailed her boss back in the states.

Immediately after she began to instruct AntiGravity classes, Stefani signed up for her 200HR yoga training at Emerge, which was the only beginning. Her love of teaching and passion for yoga has inspired Stefani to take numerous AntiGravity advanced trainings, TRX trainings, begin a 300HR yoga training at Emerge and is currently working towards her license in Massage Therapy.

Stefani is currently the Director of our Kids Program here at Emerge and often caught bragging about how her job description is “Director of Fun”. Her classes are light hearted and entertaining!

Meet Karen:

Karen_OtherI am a certified group fitness instructor through IFTA since 2006, certified in AntiGravity, and completed my 200 hour training in yoga. I am currently an elementary school teacher. I enjoy teaching yoga to children if all ages because they are so free spirited and being amazing energy to their mats. I also love bringing a mediation practice in the children’s classes. I feel it teaches them to find peace within themselves and a focus to their dreams and wishes. Meditation also helps in their daily life and school. I have always been very active person; running, playing soccer, and volleyball. I found yoga four years ago to help me become more flexible and stretch my over worked muscles. After two years of a daily practice I began to find leave in body and mind.

Lauren VanDeinse

LaurenV_Headshot

Role at Emerge:

Yoga Teacher & AGY Instructor (aka flying neon princess)

Yoga ROCKS Because…

I feel empowered because I get to let my ego take a backseat while I watch my body, and others’, amaze with its effortless ability.

If my life had a theme song, it would be…

“Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey

When I’m not in spandex at Emerge…

I can be found baking and more importantly eating WAY too many cookies, adventuring all over Long Island with my best friend of 20+ years, standing in yoga poses at super inappropriate times or napping – a girl has got to get her beauty rest.

Trainings + Certifications:

AGY Fundamentals 1 & 2, 200-HR Forrest YT, AGY Restorative

Meet Lauren:

LaurenV_OtherAfter battling with drug addiction for many years, Lauren finally found the key to recovery through yoga. She had practiced here and there for years beginning in high school, but never really bought into the spirituality of it until she desperately needed the guidance of something higher. Lauren was introduced to AntiGravity Yoga in 2012 and it was love at first flight. She began attending classes daily (even that wasn’t enough), which gave her a reason to want to actually want to wake up every morning. Gradually her practice began to evolve and she got back on the mat with more intention. She strongly feels as though Forrest Yoga found her. After practicing for months with the same teacher, all of a sudden the schedule was changed, that teacher was gone and in walked someone else. That someone else happened to be a Forrest teacher, and every word she spoke, every pose she cued hit a nerve with Lauren. After the class, she bought Ana Forrest’s book, Fierce Medicine. Every line on every page changed her life. After reading, Lauren knew that she needed to share the immense healing power that she found in her practice with others. She dropped her career as a chef to begin on the path to become a healer. In May 2013 she became certified as an AntiGravity Instructor and completed her 200 hour YTT with Ana Forrest in May 2014. Her classes are filled with lots of laughter and sweat. Lauren strongly believes in the empowerment of the self and liberation of the mind through the development of strength and trust in the physical form. When you attend her class, please leave your ego inside your shoes, have an open mind and feel free to turn up the corner’s of your mouth. We only get one lifetime in this body, try not to take it so seriously.

Toni-Rose Annicaro

TonniAnne_Headshot

Role at Emerge:

Yoga ROCKS Because…

in the immortal words of Salvadore from Couples Retreat, “Encouragement, yes! … Boom.”

If my life had a theme song, it would be…

“Celebration” by Kool and the Gang.

When I’m not in spandex at Emerge…

I am most likely with my family or loved ones planning our next celebration, at the movies or taking a class.

Trainings + Certifications:

200-HR RYT at Emerge & Yoga Womb Prenatal Yoga Certification

Meet Toni-Rose:

TonniAnne_OtherToni-Rose B. Annicaro is a 200-hour Emerge trained instructor and is also further trained in Prenatal Yoga. Toni-Rose was born into a loving family and, as the eldest female of her generation, her path was clear—a family leader. She was raised with love and honesty and has a great respect for family togetherness and traditions.

While being educated in high school, Toni-Rose started her first job at 15 years of age in the retail industry. While continuing her education, ultimately acquiring a Master’s Degree in Education, she worked in academia, corporate, and elementary education occupations. Her family, union membership, and work experiences have provided her with an uncanny ability to relate to people of all ages, ethnicity and backgrounds.

To counteract her busy life, she came to yoga for a greater sense of grounding and to develop more coping skills to deal with the trials and tribulations of daily life. What she gained, however, was a revelation—a life-changing and eye-opening experience. Toni-Rose is now even more insightful and understanding of herself as well as all those with whom she comes in contact. She has formed wonderful and lifelong friendships and thoroughly enjoys connecting with her students. What really resonates with her is the fact that we as people are more similar than we are different. And yoga is the perfect complement to everyone’s life – it fits everyone’s nationality, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation or age. It’s Toni- Rose’s true path and one on which she totally enjoys traveling.

Meet Cailin:

cailin silly action Cailin attended her first yoga class in her senior year of college, hoping to cancel out the fact that she sustained herself on happy meals and never slept. Having never considered herself particularly strong or agile, she was surprised to learn how much she could enjoy “exercise.” As Cailin attended more classes with various teachers and binge-read every book and article on yoga she could find, her “stretching” evolved to a yoga practice that expanded beyond the mat and fostered a sense of calm and self-awareness in the midst of her post-college growing pains. Cailin’s goal is always to provide an upbeat and encouraging space for students to explore and develop their abilities and create a lifelong practice they love. Whether fast-paced and flowy, sustained and strengthening, or gently restorative, her classes always emphasize individual body awareness and self-care.

Tabitha Ochtera

tabitha headshot

Role at Emerge:

Yoga Teacher

Yoga ROCKS Because…

it gets me out of my head and into my body. I’ve always had problems identifying with my body but yoga remedies that disconnect. It’s also fun and challenging and helps me be me.

If my life had a theme song, it would be…

since I have a varied taste in music I picked two: “Made to Measure” by My Ruin & “Absolutely (Story of a Girl)” by Nine Days

When I’m not in spandex at Emerge…

I could be in my fancy clothes at my day time gig as a librarian OR I’m in sweatpants at home hanging out with my husband & dog which usually includes some kind of geeky shenanigans.

Trainings + Certifications:

M.S. in Library & Information Science, 200-HR RYT @ Emerge

Meet Tabitha:

tabitha actionTabitha first came to yoga in 2002; while it was a great escape from everyday life, she didn’t quite get it. It wasn’t until finding Emerge Yoga and Wellness in 2014 that Tabitha was able to dive into her personal practice. The ever vigilant book nerd, Tabitha became intrigued by the off-mat components of a yoga practice and began to read and research those areas. Her thirst for knowledge is what led to the decision of pursuing yoga teacher training; Tabitha wasn’t sure if she would teach but she did know that she needed to learn more.
It was through her 200hr teacher training that Tabitha was able to learn so much about herself. Yes, she learned about the poses and how to safely support others once she began to teach but she also learned how to let go of things from her past which she was shocked to realize that she was still carrying around. Now being able to not just accept her feelings but also look closely at why she is experiencing them, Tabitha has taken the next step in her personal practice. Her goal is to create a space for her students in which they can find themselves in their practice and learn to accept themselves for the individuals that they are.

Organic Skincare ROCKS Because…

it allows me to make a difference in someone’s life and make them feel better inside and out.

If my life had a theme song, it would be…

Trainings + Certifications:

600-Hour NYS Esthetics License & 200HR RYT @ Emerge

Meet Leovita:

lea actionI was a bit of a party girl throughout my high school and college years, never really knowing what I wanted to do. I switched my major more times than I can count and moved from place to place. I had always been interested in skincare though because I had such troubling complexion once I turned about 20 years old. With that, I decided to go to school and help others as I helped myself! I trained at Western Suffolk BOCES of East Northport. Not only do I love to enhance one’s natural beauty but I love to help other’s relax because it also relaxes me in the process. …Within yoga, I am allowed to be perfectly imperfect and its because of that comfort, I continue to practice. I had begun doing yoga on and off since 2009, in all that time I had not learned as much about spirituality and meditation as I have in coming to Emerge. One day last year I just happened to see a friend on Facebook ‘like’ Emerge’s page which is how I first heard about the studio. Thank goodness for such chance!! I went to my first Anti-Gravity class and was hooked! From there I went on to do the 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training program at Emerge, became a karma yogi, learned all about Young Living essential oils and now I am their esthetician! So glad for this life change…I am a hopeless romantic who LOVES great food and great music. Oh yeah, and I really love to hang outside in the grass with my cats 🙂

Meet Lyndsay:

Lyndsay ActionLyndsay has been practicing yoga since high school, taking her first class with her mom at a local gym. An avid dancer and field hockey player, she felt immediately connected to the physical practice. It wasn’t until later in life that Lyndsay began to discover the therapeutic aspect of her yoga, and delve deeper into the potential for personal healing through breath and movement. Having achieved her Master’s degree in Creative Art Therapy, Lyndsay has always been open to alternative means of healing, and for her, yoga is just that. After finding Emerge, Lyndsay was inspired to pursue her 200-hr RYT as well as become a certified AntiGravity instructor. She is here to share the lessons she has learned through yoga with her students, and with the world!
